Our Service

North East Doctor on Call Ltd is a partnership with General Practitioners in the region and the HSE to provide urgent out of hours GP care.  This means that if your own surgery is closed and you are in urgent need of a GP, you should contact us on 1850 777 911.

NEDOC covers Monaghan, Cavan, Meath and Louth (with the exception of Dundalk town and surrounding area). We have four treatment centres, in Navan, Cavan, Castleblayney and Drogheda.  We operate a telephone and triage hub from Ardee.

Patients of practices who have joined NEDOC are eligible to ring NEDOC for advice and to be seen in a treatment centre or at home, if that is the appropriate decision.  However unregistered patients must first register with a local GP who is a member of NEDOC before having access to NEDOC.

Practices that are not members of NEDOC provide their own out of hours service and if your GP/Practice is not a member of NEDOC you should contact their out of hours number provided on their answer machine.

NEDOC does arrange home visits for patients who are extremely ill or elderly or immobile.  The decision to undertake a home visit is made by the triage doctor in consultation with the patient or the patient's family member.  It is important to remember that North East Doctor on Call is not an “On-call” service to provide home visits on request.

Contacting NEDOC

If you require emergency treatment you should contact the emergency services on 999 or go straight to the nearest Accident & Emergency unit. NEDOC is not a replacement for the emergency services.1850 777 911
