Patients using NEDOC over Christmas and New Year are asked to be aware of the opening times which are outlined below.
Please note that there will be extensive demand on the service over the four days of Christmas and three days of New Year. While every effort will be made to manage the service as quickly as possible, inevitabely patients will experience delays in having their calls returned and in waiting to see a doctor.
Patients who require routine care should go to see their own GP during normal surgery hours.
NEDOC is an urgent out of hours service and is not a replacement for the emergency services. Patients who require emergency treatment should attend their nearest Emergency Department.
NEDOC will be open from 6pm Friday 23rd until 8am Wednesday 28th December. Normal surgeries will resume on Wednesday morning at the usual times.
The service will operate from 6pm-8am on Wed 28th, Thurs 29th & Fri 30th December.
Over the New Year weekend, NEDOC will be open from 6pm on Friday 30th until 8am on Tuesday 3rd January 2012. Normal surgery will resume on Tuesday morning at the normal times.

He warned that drastic cuts in the service, which will be implemented next month, could have safety implications. “As one of those who set up this service, I am not convinced that we can provide a safe level of cover under the new arrangements,” he said.
